I would be remiss if I didn't mention last Friday - May 9/08 ! On that day, we attended "Research Day" at the Haliburton Forest & Wildlife Reserve Limited. That was the second time we had gone. Each time, the management of the Forest has hosted the staff and students from the Faculty of Forestry of the University of Toronto.
The U of T Forestry people eagerly spend the day presenting summaries of their work and thesis underway in the Forest. This year an international guest had been invited to the seminar and told of the advanced work in Europe on biofuels. Forest staff explained various scientific projects underway on their lands and their ongoing relationship with the U of T.
Research day is an intense day of interest, participation, sharing, and learning for everyone who attends. It is a day that fosters an appreciation of not only what we know about our forests but what we don't know !
