Spring Green-up

Each year, between the disappearance of the snow and the coming of the bug season , there is a short window of opportunity to enjoy the bush, as it comes alive after a long cold winter. While the mat of leaves is dry and brittle, the ground underneath is quite damp. This combination, with the warm spring sun, prompts the growth of many species of flowers. Three weeks after the snow melts, the forest floor is covered with a mat of wild Leeks sprinkled with Trout Lilys, Spring Beauties and Trilliums.
