Project FeederWatch

This winter we are participating in Project FeederWatch. It is a research and education project of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and Bird Studies Canada and it provides data for scientists to help them develop a global understanding of changing bird populations. Each week, you observe the birds visiting your feeder for two consecutive days. You also gather and submit information such as the amount and type of precipation received; snow and ice on ground conditions; the maximum and minimum temperatures attained; and the general weather conditions at the time of observing. While the option exists for logging the information in a record book and sending it in at the end of the season, we chose to make weekly online submissions.
