Our Ice Conditions
Loon Lake has changed dramatically since the recent thaw. We now have 9" of ice; measured at several holes in the First Bay - West Shore. Of the 9", about 4" is blue ice [at the bottom] and the rest is white ice [the top layers]. There is a lot of snowmobile activity on the lake and there are some ice huts on the lake. It's still wise to be very careful and to stay away from any locations where the ice could be thinner and weaker [stream entries, shoal locations, any spot that looks suspicious].
