Living on Loon Lake means living very close to nature. Occasionally, you see another side of Mother Nature that makes you appreciate the reality of the nearby world. Several weeks ago, we discovered a bull moose that had met a very tragic death in the bush. The bull had fallen over quite a high cliff and had died. I've always believed that, in nature, there's a reason for everything and that nothing ever gets wasted. The bull was quickly consumed by various animals that live in the bush, including ravens and wolves. This picture is one of many taken by a trail camera that we set near the carcass of the bull moose. It shows two of a pack of wolves that stayed in the immediate area for several days. Their presence was made known by howling and a lot of growling as they fought for food. There are quite a few wolves that roam the area and their presence is more often known by the tracks they leave in the snow or their howls sometimes heard at daybreak.
