Around Loon Lake

We've had an additional inch of snow with some drifting. However, the roads on both sides of the lake are plowed. Main highways are good and well maintained for winter driving. There were some slush spots on the lake earlier in the week, so snowmobilers should take heed ! Snow on cottage roofs is at about 3-4 inches, with perhaps some build up on north faces.

Last night we discovered another deer take-down by the wolves. This one was just west of the location of the old MTO picnic table area on the north shore of the lake. That makes a total of three deer killed by wolves in two weeks. There could be quite a toll by the end of the winter. Wolves are protected in this area, so nothing can be done about the destruction. But it's also Mother Nature working normally!
