The photo says it all ! This is one of the worst years for slush on the lake that I've seen yet. It totally limits your travels on the ice and it doesn't really go away until the ice starts to go. Temperatures in the minus twenties don't solidify it because of the insulating effect of the depth of snow on top of it. There are huge patches everywhere and it's over a foot deep in places. We almost got a snowmobile stuck in it last week and it cost us a fifty dollar belt afterward! The machine had to be lifted off the ground and put inside a tarpaulin-tent structure for half a day while the heat from ceramic heaters melted the ice from the track system. Other nearby lakes are also "slushed-up" and Drag Lake has slush and six inches of water in places. It's best to stay off the lakes right now if you can!
