Some of our most famous birds are slowly returning to Loon Lake. On April 1 there were two herons seen flying over; and on April 14, while out walking in the bush, a loon flew overhead toward the lake, calling as it went. The next day, the Kingfisher was seen sitting on a telephone line above the Burnt River. Yesterday, a neighbour reported seeing two loons swimming near the Wenona Creek outlet. And what is almost uncanny is that, at almost the same time each year, within a few days, the animals always return home!
