We have a newly born baby loon. The top picture shows the mother loon on her nest just over a week ago. The bottom picture shows both parents with their baby, taken this morning. Mom and Dad are busy guarding their baby and even though it rides on a parent’s back, it does hop off and go into the water. The bottom picture was taken at quite a distance with a telephoto lens and you can just see the baby between the parents.
