As We Approach the End of Summer….

August31 017

This summer has been one of the most spectacular summers in quite a few years with the superb weather and the warm water temperatures that just seem to continue.

To me, this picture reflects the beginning of the fall season, when early morning sunrises never cease to leave me in awe.

It also represents what Loon Lake is all about.

This past summer I’ve noticed that there seems to be a whole new generation of younger families that are enjoying the lake. That enjoyment that I’m seeing reminds me of several decades ago when I too spent the better part of a warm sunny day in or on the water.

This year there has been quite a few sailboats on the lake, some very small and some quite large – at least for Loon Lake. And while I’ve seen some personal water craft, it almost seems as if they are being replaced by sailboats. But then, maybe it’s only my imagination.

There has also been more kayaks and canoes on the lake.

While there are still larger motor boats that pull kids around on tubes [or tubes that resemble sofas] and wakeboards, I’ve noticed there’s been an increase in the number of smaller boats fishing the shoals and weed beds. And the deeper waters for a chance at lake trout.

Yes, Loon Lake is going through another transition period !
