As of yesterday, we have three loons on the lake. There is the mother loon with it’s youngster and one separate adult loon. The mother and youngster are staying at the east end of loon lake and the other adult is roaming. Both of the adult loons are losing their markings and becoming quite gray before their long trip away from Loon Lake. It’s interesting to see how the necklace on the one adult is becoming “blurred” as it disappears! The youngster is staying it’s brownish-gray colour and is starting to wander from the mother as it continues to grow in size. We haven’t seen it learning to fly yet. The loons should be here for a while since they don’t normally leave Loon Lake until late fall.
