As Loon Lake Fills…

It seems that Spring has come early this year and the signs are all around us. This past weekend, the Robins finally made there way here and some of the northern ducks are starting to pass through. And this is the first year I’ve received a reminder from Environment Canada to do the Ice Watch program! On the weekend, Gull Islands once again sank as the water levels continue to rise. There’s a lot of water already passing through the culvert on the Gregory Lane and the water level on the concrete wall at the mouth of the Burnt River is 8” from the top edge. I’m waiting for the water level to reach 6” from the top edge before I do my first ever experiment to try to measure the water volume leaving the lake. More on that later...
