These beautiful little rods aren't really beautiful - in fact they're quite nasty! These are E-coli, coloured to make them stand out in this picture.
If you've carefully read the results of the water analysis taken each year, you may have noticed that there was always one location on Loon Lake where the test result numbers were higher than those of the other locations.
