Our Loon arrived two days ago and has been seen swimming near the mouth of the creek that flows from Wenona Lake. The only areas open where it has enough room to take off are that location and the Burnt River between the dam and the Gregory Lane.
There is still a lot of ice on the lake but it is out about ten feet from shore in some locations. What really slows down the leaving of the ice is that it's still getting cold at night with the shoreline spaces re-freezing.
Ice is being predicted to go out in some Algonquin Park locations just before the May long weekend !
I hope we'll beat that prediction...our lake is starting to look real gray!
