Since my last article, there have been significant developments in the ongoing saga of the Gregory Lane culvert. Problems have been identified that include under capacity, incorrectly built embankments, excessive rocks blocking flow, and possible backfill issues. The engineers who designed the culvert and the contractor who did the building are being slow at planning repairs.
An independent engineer has been contacted to help the road association in it's endeavours to correct problems.
The road association is taking proactive steps to try to prevent possible damages from the coming 2015 Spring freshet. If it is successful, the likelihood of the causeway washing out and bad flooding will be reduced. Should it not be successful, all of the properties on the West Shore of Loon Lake could temporarily become water access only.
Sadly, the problems are that serious !
