There's a Big One Out There...

Tonight, right at dusk, we found a smallmouth bass, about 2 pounds, in close to shore, with it's head facing the rock shoreline.

What was unusual was that the back third of it's body was missing. You could see where it's tail had been bitten off!

To me, that means that there's probably one big Muskie out somewhere on the shoal in front of our home.

I've had one about four feet long come up to me when I've been splashing water on myself before diving underwater. While snorkelling, I've also seen a real big fish tail swimming away from me as it's owner went to deeper water.
And our neighbour had a Muskie over four feet long swim out from under his dock one day!

So they're out there!
